🌿Growth doesn’t begin by acquiring something new—it begins by rediscovering what’s already there.
In practice, this means shifting from “I need more skills, time, or confidence” to asking, “What strengths, experiences, and inner resources can I draw on right now?”
As leaders, coaches, or HR professionals, we often see people underestimate what they already bring to the table. The real task is not to add capacity but to unlock it—to help others reconnect with their sense of agency, competence, and purpose.
When we operate from the belief that we already have what we need, we act differently. We stop waiting for perfect conditions or external validation. We move forward, trusting that capability grows through use, not permission.
📘All beliefs from “The Difference That Makes the Difference: NLP and the Science of Positive Change“ by Josh Davis, Greg Prosmushkin:
1️⃣ How we experience the world is not the same as reality — make an effort to understand how other people perceive their reality.
2️⃣ Why not me? — believing that you can is a strong predictor that you will.
3️⃣ All I need is already within me — focus on internal resources, not deficiencies.
4️⃣ There’s no failure, only feedback — reframe setbacks as learning opportunities.
5️⃣ How my message landed matters more than what I meant — assume the meaning is in the response received.
6️⃣ If at first I don’t succeed, I must try something else — flexibility trumps persistence in a rigid approach.
7️⃣ Assume good intentions — encounter resistance with curiosity, not judgment.
8️⃣ If I knew then what I knew then — let go of past self-judgment; people do the best they can with their worldview.
💡 True development begins when we stop trying to fix ourselves and start expanding the way we see ourselves—and others.
