"The Psychology of Money"

The two things that motivate people to work are meaning and money. While meaning is something we can easily create for ourselves in any situation, money seems to require a little more effort.
Of the 20 attitudes Morgan Housel describes about money, one resonated most with me as a human resources professional.

People are never satisfied and give the lowest scores for reward questions in engagement surveys because their goalpost moves. Expectations rise with results - one step forward pushes the goalpost two steps ahead. The desire to outperform colleagues can be the fuel for hard work, but it also increases ambition faster than satisfaction. The moving goalpost shifts the equation “happiness = results - expectations” towards the negative end.

⛳️ So when it comes to money, ask yourself: when will you have enough? And then stick to that goalpost. Because without the feeling of having enough, life is no fun.
